technical university of mombasa ict, the directorate is headed by the Director ITCS Mr. Obadia Musau (pictured right),The staff of the directorate of Information Technology and Communication Services work to provide the university with a robust, secure, and enabling technology environment. we operate a multi-layered environment made up of infrastructure, applications, services, and specialized support. At the most basic level is a massive wired and wireless computing and communications infrastructure.

Lots of bytes of data, voice and video go through this infrastructure twenty four hours, sevens days a week all year round, carrying the critical academic and administrative business of the TUM. At the apex of this foundational infrastructure reside dozens of computing applications and services.

These applications and services, from email to the Financial Management System, from networked storage space to student management and registry systems, allow the campus community to communicate, research, collaborate and efficiently conduct the core functions of the university college.

Maintanance and Repair Services

The TUM boasts of over 1000 desktop computers, several laptops and dozens of other IT peripheral equipment spread all over the campus. With such like numbers comes the challenge of keeping all this equipment in good working order, thats there the maintanance team comes in, their task is to make sure that the ITCS equipment is always in good working order through scheduled service regime, pick up spoilt ones either for repair or replacement upon availability.

Network & WiFi

Active Directory The Active Directory domain, TUM.edu, is the centralized Windows Directory Service for authentication of user, computer, and group objects. Active Directory is used primarily for the centralized Windows environments.

Wireless Access Point

We are currently managing several wireless access points within the TUM campus, most of which are open to access for faculty, staff and students upon presentation of their laptop computers for the necessary configuration by the Network Adminstrators Office. We are in the process of expanding our wireless reach to Kiziwi Campus

IP Address Management

All IP addresses to be used by computers within the university college are automatically allocated by our Dynamic Hostname Control Protocol (DHCP) server, all a client needs to do is plug in to the wired network sockets, or just connect via wireless access .
