Technical University Of Kenya Vice Chancellor Contacts, Following the advertisement of the position of the Vice-Chancellor and the interviews as per the Charter, Prof. Jacob T. Kaimenyi, Cabinet Secretary for Education appointed Prof. Francis Aduol the first Vice-Chancellor of the Technical University of Kenya.

Prior to his appointment, Prof. Aduol served as the University’s VC in acting capacity following the award of the charter by the then President Hon. Mwai Kibaki. Prof. Aduol was appointed the first Principal of the Kenya Polytechnic University College in October 2008. He holds a B.Sc. Engineering degree in Surveying and Photogrammetry, MA in Economics and M.Sc. degree in Surveying both from the University of Nairobi, and Dr.-Ing. in Geodesy from the University of Stuttgart in Germany.

Prof. Aduol has had an illustrious career as an academic and in university administration. He is a full Professor of Surveying of the University of Nairobi. He has served previously at the University of Nairobi as Chairman of Department of Surveying; Dean, Faculty of Engineering; and Principal, College of Architecture and Engineering.

He is a member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya and a Licensed Surveyor in Kenya.

Vice-Chancellor of the Technical University of Kenya Prof. Francis Aduol has been appointed a member of the Executive Board of the Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (CAPA). 

In a letter presented to him by CAPA Chairman Prof. Abdulai Salifu Asuro, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of Tamale Technical University in Ghana and the Secretary General Dr. Olubunmi Owuso, the team acknowledged the VC  for his commitment towards CAPA affairs by  ensuring it’s growth and development.

TU-K hosts the Headquarters of CAPA on behalf of the Government of Kenya. 

Prof. Asuro thanked Prof. Aduol for his immense support to CAPA and upholding the spirit of Pan-Africanism. 

Part of the letter read, “We are greatly inspired to institutionalise the indispensable role of the University’s VC in the affairs of CAPA, for now and the future. In the last meeting of the General Conference in Cape Town South Africa, the members enthusiastically approved your appointment as the Seat of CAPA Representative on the new Executive Board.”

In his remarks, the VC accepted his appointment noting that it was a great honour and privilege. “In my heart, I feel that I have a genuine commitment to Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). I believe we can put our minds together as Technical Universities in Africa, and strengthen CAPA,” said he. 

Prof. Aduol is expected to support the leadership of CAPA and help in the implementation of some strategic decisions with greater impact, both nationally and regionally. 

 The inauguration of the new Board and it’s inaugural meeting is scheduled to take place in Nairobi early next month.
