South Eastern Kenya University invites applications for the following positions:

Transport Manager – Grade 12 – SEKU/AD/01/30/16 – 1 Position

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repoting to the Registrar (Administration and Human Resource Management) The Transport Manager is responsible for:
  • Overall planning of University transport and garage services.
  • Organization, supervision and management of all the University transport and garage services.
  • Coordination of all the activities within the department.
  • Staffing of transport and garage units.
  • Performance appraisal for staff in the Department.
  • Budgeting and control of the financial requirements of the Department.
  • Preparation of regular reports to the University Management on the Department’s performance.
  • Overseeing and ensuring the effective implementation of the transport services and garage activities.
  • Advising the University management on policy issues related to the garage operations.
  • Marketing, transporting and garage services.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Registrar.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Applicants for the position must:
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering or equivalent
  • Have three (3) years of experience as Transport Manager Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Be computer literate
  • A master’s degree in relevant field shall be an added advantage
    OR
  • Have National Diploma in automotive engineering or equivalent
  • Have six (6) years of experience, three (3) of which must have been as Transport Manager Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Be computer literate
Assistant Transport Manager – Grade 11 – SEKU/AD/02/30/16 – 1 Position

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Transport Manager Grade 11 reports to Transport Manager is responsible for ssisting the Transport Mangerin the follwing areas:

  • Overall planning of University transport and garage services.
  • Organization, supervision and management of all the University transport and garage services.
  • Proper coordination of all the activities within the department.
  • Adequate staffing of Transport and garage units.
  • Performance appraisal for staff in the Department.
  • Budgeting and control of the financial requirements of the Department.
  • Preparation of regular reports to University Management on the performance of the Department.
  • Overseeing and ensuring the effective implementation of the transport services and Garage activities in the Department.
  • Advising the University management on policy aspects related to the garage operations.
  • Marketing, Transporting and Garage services.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Registrar.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering / equivalent
  • Three (3) years experience as Transport Manager Grade EF / equivalent
  • Must be computer literate
    OR
  • National Diploma in automotive engineering / equivalent
  • Four (4) years experience, three (3) of which must have been as Transport Manager Grade EF / equivalent
  • Must be computer literate
Drivers – Grade III/IV – SEKU/AD/03/30/16 – 6 Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving assigned vehicles
  • Maintaining work ticket
  • Maintaining vehicle cleaniness
  • Drawing scheduled maintance
  • Updating insurance and other licences
  • Maintaining safety and security of vehicles

Requirements for Appointment

  • Have at least KCSE level of education or equivalent
  • Have a clean valid driving license classes BCE and PSV
  • Have at least three (3) years satisfactory previous driving experience after obtaining license.
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • A certificate in  Occupational Test Grade III and first aid will be an added advantage
  • Must be at least 21 years and above
Driver/Mechanic Grade III/IV SEKU/AD/04/30/16 – SEKU/AD/01/30/16 – 2 Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving assigned vehicles
  • Maintaining work ticket
  • Maintaining vehicle cleaniness
  • Drawing scheduled maintance
  • Updating insurance and other licences
  • Maintaining safety and security of vehicles
  • Attend to minor maintenance and repairs
  • Assess and compile report on repairs
  • Road Test repaired vehicles

Requirements for Appointment

  • Have at least KCSE level of education
  • Have a clean valid driving license classes ABCE and PSV
  • Have passed in Occupational Test Grade I
  • Have a certificate in First Aid
  • Have passed Government Trade Test III (Mechanic).
  • Have at least three (3) years satisfactory previous driving experience.
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Must be at least 25 years old.
