Ku Tv Kenyatta University, MP’s allied from the Coast parliamentary group have criticised the move by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to crack the whip on the two Coastal Legislators who are now termed as rebels.

Addressing the press at Parliament Buildings, the MPs led by Said Hiribae(Galole) and Ali Mbogo (Kisauni) have condemned the move by the ODM party to crack the whip on MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni) terming it hypocritical and against their freedom and rights.

“We respect our respective parties as Coastal parliamentary group but we will not allow anyone to intimidate us. We don’t operate contrary to our respective party constitution,”said Mbogo.

The leaders who hail from the coastal region accuse the opposition party of being hypocritical as they didn’t whip their party leader Raila Odinga when he shook hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom they term as their rival.

“We have seen our leaders shaking hands with whoever they want,we don’t see anything wrong doing the same,” Mbogo added.

Tana river Women representative Rehema Hassan called for the withdrawal of the letters with immediate effect.

“As coastal Mps we have always stood with ODM,we are opposing the move to crack the whip against the two legislators. Those letters should be withdrawn,”Rehema said.

The letters dated July 24th accuse the two Mps of gross misconduct and working against the parties constitution.

The party has also accused Jumwa and Dori of skipping two parliamentary group meeting held this year.
