Catholic University Of Eastern Africa Rugby Team, Our men rugby team, CUEA Monks, was on Sunday night (July 5) crowned as the winners of the Masaku 7’s Division A main cup after beating Kisii University in the final game that was held in the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos County.
Captained by Bremen Hamisi, The Monks had to fight off stiff competion in the group stages from the likes of Kilunda RFC and MKU-Thika to book a quarter final berth against Makueni RFC whom they easily overcame to face Kenyatta Universities’ Black Blad in the semi-finals before finally facing the boys from Kisii in the penultimate game of the tournament in which Morgan Ngumbi, a key player of the team and former captain, said he attributed their success to “hard work and self- belief.” “Despite all the challenges we faced, we emerged victors”, Morgan added.
The Team is currently playing in the division 2 national league,
