2. OPERATIONAL MODEL
In 2008, the AMECEA Bishops resolved to make the AMECEA Gaba Publications part of the PRESS. The Press is headed by a Director (based in Nairobi) while the Eldoret Office is managed by a Coordinator.
CUEA PRESS is a service unit of the University. Its principal mandate is to provide printing and publishing services to support CUEA’s mission of providing quality research, teaching and community service. Our publications help the University to attain its goal of providing quality higher learning anchored on the rich tradition of Catholic higher education.
In addition to serving the University, CUEA PRESS also serves external clients through the CUEA CONSULTANCY LTD. Some of our recent clients include Kenyatta University, AMECEA Secretariat and several individual writers.
3. GOING FORWARD: E-PUBLISHING
CUEA PRESS has made the strategic decision to embrace e-publishing as a way to increase the number of platforms on which its publications will be available. When fully operational, the e-publishing program will enhance access to academic materials by students of CUEA and other universities, as well as local and international subscribers. And since secondary school education is expanding rapidly in Kenya, e-publishing provides an opportunity to reach out to secondary school students, both as a potential market for books as well as a community service project.
