Director, Alumni Relations
Department: Alumni Relations Office
Reporting to: DVC Planning and Development
Basic job Summary: To be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Strathmore Alumni
Relations Office, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs designed to foster mainstreaming the
effective involvement of Strathmore Alumni in supporting the mission and vision of Strathmore University.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategy: To establish, direct, and implement the strategic plan for Strathmore Alumni Relations to
support the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives; - Program Development: To oversee the design and implementation of all program activities for the
Strathmore University Alumni Office and engage alumni in activities such as mentoring, fundraising,
guest speaker series, student clubs, volunteering, and annual giving; Plan, implement and promote
alumni programs that will enable Strathmore University to establish and build relationships with a widerange of alumni, locally and regionally; - Operations Management: To plan and execute networking, educational, and social events and maintain
regular communication with the alumni community through surveys and keeping contact information
updated; - Alumni Engagement: To facilitate and organize engagement projects for Strathmore with its alumni
community across a range of areas such as teaching, learning, research, external engagement,
philanthropy, and corporate affairs; - Partnerships: To identify and deliver partnerships with appropriate third parties that will enable a greater
range of alumni activities of mutual value to alumni and to the university; Oversee the development,
implementation, and co-ordination of the alumni relations operations of the university by partnering with
the school’s alumni relations chapters; - Collaboration: To work as a conduit between the alumni community, academic sections, and support
units of the university to deliver appropriate alumni input on key projects and initiatives; - Human Resource Management: To recruit, select, and develop staff within the Alumni relations office
through liaison with Human Resources Department and ensure that training programs are effective in
enhancing the skills needed for alumni management; - Financial Management: To develop, manage, and oversee the areas of budgetary management and
financial control within the alumni relations office to ensure proper utilisation towards achieving the
plans and objectives.
Minimum Requirements:
Core Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in any related field from a recognised institution
- At least 8 years’ experience in Alumni Relations and External Affairs
- Demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing
volunteer leadership; - Experience at a management level in a higher education institution or comparable context with
responsibility for the planning and use of resources - Proven knowledge of the higher education sector and the challenges and opportunities involved in
engaging an alumni community - Ability to take advantage of opportunities for alumni involvement with faculty and students
- Demonstrated experience with planning and organizing events appropriate for alumni
- Experience and skills related to social media strategy and implementations

Associate Dean – Research and Innovation
Reports to: Executive Dean
Basic job Summary:
To be responsible for the establishment of research and innovation centres, publications, conferences and seminar series, working paper series and establishment of publications in the fields of business and management sciences.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To oversee the establishment of research centres at the Business School.
- To promote and facilitate lead-edge research, including collaborative and interdisciplinary research, in areas related to the goals of the Business School.
- To build and provide sufficient support for, a community of innovative researchers to enhance research capacity at the Business School and to increase internal and external research opportunities for faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students.
- To develop networks between the research centres and researchers in the field in the public and private sectors, locally, nationally and internationally.
- To develop mutual beneficial linkages with industry in order to develop partnerships and collaborative research of mutual benefit.
- To transfer knowledge to society through outreach (e.g. seminars, workshops, lectures, websites, conferences, publications) and, where applicable, through technology transfer (e.g. collaborative research; contract work; and commercialization of intellectual property).
- To oversee the Professorial Chairs and Research fellows program.
- To lead strategic planning for the research centres to ensure that their objectives are aligned with the School’s Strategic Plan.
- To oversee the proper discharge of administrative duties of the research centre including supervising personnel, financial management, and operations.
- To report to donors and other stakeholders on funding and research outcomes.
- To manage the research plan effectively and efficiently, ensuring that accepted standards of research and ethical behavior are met;
- To enhance the reputation of the research centres and the School by undertaking quality research and communicating that research to the society;
- To encourage and support the raising of funds for research conducted by the research centres.
- To provide semi-annual and annual evaluations of trends in research productivity, diversity, academic achievement and other measures of research outputs.
- To serve as a member on the Business School Management Board.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- PHD Holder in a relevant field and at the level of a Senior Lecturer
- Experience teaching & learning, research and administration
- Experience in research grant sourcing
Experience:
- At least 8 years’ relevant experience with at least 3 years’ experience at a managerial position

Associate Developer, ICTS Innovation Lab
Department: Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS).
Reporting to: Assistant Manager, ICT EAS, and Project-Supervising Systems Developer.
Basic Job Summary: Working under the guidance of a team of experienced systems developers, the Associate Developer, ICTS Innovation Lab will work on both short- term and/or long-term system development projects meant to deliver to Strathmore University innovative web and mobile applications that staff and students will love.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To gather and document requirements for new systems or new functionality from relevant departments.
- Develop and maintain design documents for respective systems and interfaces.
- To carry out systems development as per laid out requirements.
- To develop interfaces between systems as the need arises.
- To provide user support for respective systems.
- To ensure that proper technical and user documentation is maintained for all systems.
- To provide analytical information/reports from systems as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Manager, ICT EAS.
Minimum Requirements:
Core qualifications
- Part-time (evening) or full-time, ready to transition to evening, 3rd year student in BBIT/BICS/BTC in SU and Must be of good academic standing (no pending units or disciplinary issues)
- Demonstrable proficiency in any of the following Programming Languages: PHP, Java or Python. Knowledge of frameworks such as Laravel, Java Spring, Django etc. is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in web development: HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Proficiency with web development tools and libraries such as Bootstrap, JQuery and AngularJS etc. is an added advantage.
- Demonstrable proficiency in relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To target new clients for business development and propose new initiatives for existing clients to increase sales opportunities, growth plans and achieve personal and team financial targets.
- To develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, developing industry linkages to sustain Strathmore Business School as their knowledge partner in transforming Africa leaders while exploring opportunities for potential clients.
- To continually comb the market to understand the needs, market trends and to be aware of market views on our products and propose solutions to address the gaps.
- To continually develop a sales pipeline to ensure a proactive approach to business development.
- To provide guidance to the Business Development team reporting to you and to ensure the delivery of expected outcomes to the clients.

Job Purpose:
To market and sell the Healthcare Programmes in Executive Education while building and cultivating sustainable key relationships with potential public sector and private sector partners, nationally and internationally.
Main Duties And Responsibilities:
- Sales:
- Targeting new clients for business development and proposing new initiatives for existing clients, to increase sales opportunities and achieve personal and team financial targets.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, developing industry linkages to sustain SBS as their knowledge partner in transforming Africa leaders.
- Continually devise ways to increase customer experience to deepen client/partner relationships and maintain lasting client and partner relationships.
- Data mining and developing a prospect pipeline for each program allocated.
- Marketing:
- Analyzing and managing stakeholders to maintain a close engagement and relationship with the market.
- Undertaking continuous business intelligence to understand client needs at organization, industry and country level to ensure proposal of relevant and timely executive education and consultancy solutions.
- Tracking client satisfaction with frequent client review meetings and effective evaluation of programmes and consultancy engagements.
- Operational Excellence:
- Supporting faculty members to ensure delivery of client promise and delivery of expected outcomes to the clients.
- Initiating and driving the program review process in liaison with Associate Director Public Sector Programmes and Digitization, Academic directors, and programme management team.
- Preparing internal management reports and client reports as required, to support data-driven decision making for enhanced client relations and effective process improvement.
- Key Account Management:
- Develop long term Setting planning and forecasting of each key account.
- Setting specific goals and objectives for each key account
- Managing buying cycles and their impact on the sales strategy
- Developing and maintaining key accounts in turbulent market conditions
Job Requirements
The post holder will be required to have and to demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
- Bachelors and/or Masters’ degree in a business related area qualifications in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage
- Minimum 5 years relevant working experience in business development with proven experience in sales, managing client relations, key account management.
- Ability to guide senior business leaders in designing training plans which will achieve desirable business results.
- Good research, planning and reporting skills.
- Excellent business communication and etiquette skills with a flair for pitching.
