Meru University Of Science And Technology Library, MUST library has been created to support the teaching and learning activities of the University through provision of relevant and appropriate resources. MUST library enables the university to be a centre of excellence in Research and Technology Training and enhance research.

Library Profile
Reuben Marambii Library is a mission-critical facility at Meru University of Science and Technology that endeavors to empower its users through information.
Since its establishment in 2012, the library has continued to serve as a competent information provider to the University’s academic fraternity through user-friendly and service-oriented application of contemporary information technologies.

LOCATION AND CAPACITY
The library is located at the main-campus of Meru University, about 15 KMs from Meru town on your way to Maua. It also operates a branch-library at Meru University’s main campus located in Meru town at Hart towers along Njuri Ncheke Street.
The main campus library building is a one storey building with a sitting capacity of 500 patrons. The town-campus library on the other hand, is located on the 3rd floor of Hart towers with a sitting capacity of 60 patrons.

Print collection
Reuben Marambii Library caters to the different needs of its clients through the provision of a wide range of materials in its collection that is well beyond 30,000 volumes of print materials. These comprise of relevant and current books, journals, theses and dissertations.
Audio Visuals
In its efforts to provide a variety of materials to its customers, the library maintains a collection of over 2000 titles of resources in both CD and DVD formats for use in and outside the library by its patrons. The content of this collection mainly comprises digital versions of some books within the print collection, instructional screencasts, spiritual and motivational materials, video tutorials, movies, documentaries among others. Patrons can read, listen to or watch videos in the library’s computer lab using headphones provided to them for free on need basis.
Electronic resources
The library provides its patrons with over 80,000 electronic resources from over 15 licensed online publishers. These resources can be accessed both on campus and off campus via our library services portal at http://library.must.ac.ke
Digital Collections
Our library is developing a digital collections portal that is accessible to our students and faculty via our online services portal at http://library.must.ac.ke to provide unlimited access to resources such as past-papers, selected videos and course materials all customized to the needs of students and faculty at the university.
LIBRARY CATALOG
The library has an online catalogue that can be accessed and searched by our patrons via the internet at http://opac.must.ac.ke. The OPAC offers personalized services whereby patrons can log in to their library account, conduct searches, place holds, renew books, contact a librarian among others. It also offers links to other library and university resources.
SERVICES
Reuben Marambii Library offers a range of services to its patrons aimed at improving and enhancing access to information more efficiently. These service include:
Lending – Patrons can borrow, renew and reserve items from the library according to a circulation policy developed by the library. The policy governs the circulation services, for instance, it determines the number of books that can be borrowed by a given category of patrons and for how long.
Reprography– The need to print and produce copies of documents in every academic set-up is ever present. The library has an established reprographic section that meets this need at Meru University. The services offered by this department are charged at a subsidized fee as stated by an internal policy of the library.
Reference – One other need that is ever present in academic set-up is inquiry. Our library staff is always ready to be consulted by our patrons on their varied informational needs. The service also runs via email that can be sent from our online portal or directly to [email protected]
Periodical services – This is a section in our library that provides contemporary newspapers and periodicals that help to keep our users abreast with current affairs nationally and globally. Most of these periodicals are available in print (with a spacious section in the library dedicated for reading newspapers) and in electronic formats that can be accessed via the university’s intranet.
Audio-visual services – This service offers resources to patrons in multimedia formats (mostly DVDs and CD) and a computer lab where patrons are able to watch, listen to or read materials in the section using computers and headphones provided for free. The section simultaneously offers high-speed access to the internet to support online research and learning by our students and faculty.
