Karatina University was established as a fully fledged University ¡n Kenya through the award of Charter on March 2013 as stipulated ¡n the University Act No. 42 of 2012.

Currently, the University offers degree and diploma programmes in Education and Social Sciences, Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Business, Agriculture and Biotechnology and Pure and Applied Sciences.

The University is situated 15 km North of Karatina Town on Ragati Tea Factory/Kagochi tarmac road.

The University has a student population of over 4000 pursuing courses ranging from certificates, diplomas and degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
