Jomo Kenyatta University Of Agriculture And Technology College Of Health Sciences, The College of Health Sciences – CoHES, was created by the JKUAT senate in November 2011 from the previous Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases- ITROMID.
CoHES being a college of JKUAT is open to all without discrimination against race, creed, colour or gender.
The college was also established in order to attain further development of collaboration between the University and Research Institutions such as Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).
The collaboration represents a successful example on resources harnessing between two government institutions to foster development.
CoHES is the coordinating center for all departments engaged in HIV/AIDS activities (AIDS Control Unit, Dean of Students’ office and university Hospital).
CoHES was inspected 26.04.2013 by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board for the proposed School of Medicine.
The program of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery admitted the pioneer students in September 2013.
