Dedan Kimathi University Of Technology Hostels, It is the government policy that admissions into public universities should not pegged on available accommodation space. Of about 7000 students, the University can barely accommodate 152 ladies and 246 men, making the total available spaces to be 398.

The Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW)  is tasked with the allocation process. Room allocation for the University Hostels is exclusively reserved for the first year KUCCPS (previously known as JAB) students to give them a soft landing. They are required to move out of the Hostels upon completion of the first year.

Allocation is based on first come first served basis while students with special conditions such as medical, disability, physical challenges etc. are also considered. 

External Accommodation

The University has committed itself to work closely with hostel providers to ensure provision of affordable accommodation to its students since close to 90% of the University’s student population is accommodated off campus. The University, through the DSW, has developed an elaborate system of identifying private hostels to house students who are unable to secure internal accommodation.

The Directorate has evaluated the hostels listed below based on criteria set by the relevant government departments and advises the likely occupants that the facilities do meet the minimum standards. However, the Directorate requests the students to read the occupancy tenancy forms carefully before moving into the hostels since the University is not liable in case of loss of any nature. It is also advisable for the students to visit the apartments before making any commitments.
