Daystar University News, On May 27, 2019, hundreds of parents dropped their children to Daystar Athi River Campus to the warm reception of the University.

The new students were received by the Doulos Team to start a one-week orientation programme while the parents were hosted to the Vice-Chancellor’s Welcome Tea at the Amphitheatre.

Present to receive the new parents was the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Laban Ayiro, DVC Academic Affairs Prof Bernard Boyo, DVC, Finance Administration Prof Michael Bowen, School Deans, and members of Senate and Management.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the parents that Daystar was a caring University that gives its students authentic learning and will no longer be like any other University.

“We believe in character formation for our students,” said Prof. Ayiro. The VC made known his intentions to upgrade the existing hostels to accommodate only two students per room for enhanced boarding experience.

On academic performance, the VC promised that the University shall monitor students and invited parents’ cooperation for the same.

“We will invite parents every year to come and see the progress of their children,” he said, adding that this would help the parents to keep track of their children’s academic performance.

On his part, the Ag. DVC Academic Affairs Prof. Bernard Boyo emphasized that Daystar University aims at producing well rounded scholar-believers.

“An educated person is one who is well equipped in all aspects focusing on the mind, the heart and character formation,” he said.

Prof. Boyo urged the parents to partner with the University in its bid to produce better people for the society.

“You will not regret bringing your children to Daystar University,” he promised as he assured the parents that communication on the progress of the students would be done at the end of each semester.

The University Chaplain Rev. Steven Nduto also encouraged the parents to fervently pray for their children as they begin their academic journey at Daystar. He invited them to work with Chaplaincy to raise true, godly servant leaders who will positively impact the society. The parents also had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify issues pertaining to their children’s stay at Daystar.

The VC’s Welcome Tea is a forum through which new parents are introduced to the University as their children begin their academic journey.
