University Of Nairobi Online Catalogue,

Students visits the online catalogue to search information online at the school Library rather than walking to the school Library.

The tasks of the University Library System towards the accomplishment of the functions and objectives enlisted in the University of Nairobi Act 1985, to carry out basic functions of acquiring, organizing and disseminating information in support of the University mission. More specifically it is to provide reading, reference, research materials and other library services to the students, academic staff, non-academic staff and to a limited number of qualified outsiders.

How to Access the Universities Online Catalogue

Access University of Nairobi website at http://www.uonbi.ac.ke/
From the home page, under resources, select LIBRARY SERVICES PORTAL
Under INFORMATION RESOURCES select ONLINE CATALOGUE
The OPAC homepage is displayed under the heading LIBRARY SYSTEM UONBI LIBRARIES
In the dialogue box given type your search term (author, title or part, subject, topic, etc …)
Using the drop down arrow on the right you can choose to narrow your search to any of the options given (Optional)
Click on the word SEARCH given in green on the right hand side to search
A list of items is displayed
Select the item you want by clicking on it
Bibliographic details of selected item will be displayed indicating the location and availability of the item
From the option Location, take note of the item location and number on a piece of paper e.g Main Library S 613 .N48
Proceed to the appropriate library to retrieve the item from the shelves.
