KMTC DENTAL TECHNOLOGY
KMTC Dental Technology is a specialty in the field of dentistry that deals with the treatment and rehabilitation of the tissue of the oral cavity and the orofacial. It encompasses the design and fabrication of various prostheses and corrective appliances such as dentures, braces and crowns and bridges.
The programme is designed to produce high level skilled Dental Technologists, who are able to design, fabricate and fit dental restorations, prostheses and appliances.
It also seeks to enlarge understanding of new and developing areas of dental technology and to enhance relationships within the dental team.
Admission Requirements
Minimum entry requirements:
Mean grade of C Plain
C in English or Kiswahili, and Physical Science or Physics or Chemistry
C- in any one of the following:
Biology, Metal work, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, General Science
They must have attained at least 17 years of age.

The programme study covers the following areas:-
- Crown and Bridge
- Complete and Partial Prosthodontics
- Cobalt Chrome
- Orthodontic
- Science and Dental material
- Tooth Morphology
- Oral Anatomy
- Research Methodology
- Introductory Management
- Applied Science (Physics/Chemistry)
- First Aid
- STI HIV/AIDS
Where course is offered
Nairobi MTC
Internship
On completing the course, graduates undertake one-year internship managed by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Job opportunities
Graduates are employed by:-
- Government dental clinic/laboratories
- Parastatals
- Armed Forces Health facilities
- Private hospitals
The course takes three (3) years with three (3) months mandatory clinical placement at public hospitals, mission hospitals and/or private commercial dental laboratories.
The placement period gives students hands-on experience in fabricating and fitting appliances, restorations and prostheses for patients and to learn working as a dental health team.
