We the African Institute of research and Development Studies are a Technical Training Institute specializing in tertiary education by offering Diploma and Certificate Courses. We cater for form four (4) school leavers and the working class who are either sponsored by industry and commerce or self sponsored. Our training programmes lead to professional (technician and technologist) qualifications. In addition, the institute offers short courses for skills improvement. Plans are underway for the institute to mount degree programmes in the near future through collaboration with selected leading Universities in the country.

It is envisaged that the institution will mount degree programmes as soon as they engage other fully ledged universities for collaboration. In addition, the institute offers short courses for skills improvement.

African Institute of Research & Development Studies (AIRADS) maintains close contacts with government ministries, departments and with major industrial and public service organizations. The types of courses offered are determined by the demand of the public and private sectors of the economy; the Academic Office will be pleased to advise sponsors on the selection of the most suitable course of study for their trainees.

Our History

The history of African Institute of Research and Development Studies (AIRADS) dates back to1st April 2006 when it was incepted at Utamaduni Building, Kenyatta street in Eldoret. Since then the Institution has grown in leaps and bounds.

On September 2006, Eldoret west campus was established at Eldoret west near rural housing estate. The campus was spacious and had three laboratories for Pharmaceutics, Chemistry and Biology.

The number of students at Eldoret town campus and Eldoret west campus increased tremendously. This meant that there was need for additional facilities. Thus, Eldoret east campus was established in January 2010. The campus was based on Eldoret Nairobi highway. The inaugural principal was Mr. Philemon Kemboi.

In 2011 May, the board took the bold step of amalgamating Eldoret campuses into one at the brand new ultra- modern institute plaza. The students who were at Eldoret town campus, Eldoret east campus and Eldoret west campus were brought together in to the new campus. The campus maintained the name Eldoret Town Campus.

The institute has embarked on the ultimate project of creating the university main campus. We have a fifty acre piece of land in Ngeria  area which is 13 km from Eldoret; along the Eldoret–Nakuru highway. This is the flagship project of the institution. The project is expected to transform the institute to university campus and raise the profile of the institution in a great way. We have completed two buildings;a laboratory block and a hostel block.
